From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. The Washington State Fair kicks off in Puyallup Friday and a new exhibit, called “Our Food, Our Farms, Our Washington” brings you the latest on Washington agriculture.

Andrea Thayer, the Fair’s Chief Experience Officer, tells us what we should expect to see …

THAYER … “This exhibit is really taking you through the story of major commodities, not all commodities of Washington because we are unique in the fact that we are, you know, one of the few states in the nation that have, what, 300 specialty crops.”

And once you’re there, where can we find the exhibit? …

THAYER … “This exhibit is pretty centrally located. It’s in a building that we call the Centennial Building which is just inside the blue gates.”

But Thayer says if you don’t enter through the blue gates? …

THAYER … “We have lines painted on the ground to lead you to gates. If you just pick up a pathway and find the blue line on the ground, it will lead you to the blue gate and it will lead you to our exhibit.”

The “Our Food, Our Farms, Our Washington” exhibit, Thayer says is just the beginning …

THAYER … “So, this won’t be a one-and-done exhibit. You will see components of this live on throughout our grounds in the future.”

The Washington State Fair in Puyallup runs from this Friday, August 29th, through September 21st.
