What does the farm of the not-so-distant future look like? I had the chance to ask that question to long time ag technology entrepreneur, Clark Bell of Nano-Yield. In his mind, the trend toward better nutrient efficiency will continue, both with products like his, but also in how things are applied.

Bell… “ I think precise application of nutrients is gonna be a name of the game moving forward. I think we're gonna see not just drones applying crop protection products, we're gonna see drones applying high efficiency fertilizers and fertilizer technologies. I think that's gonna be a very big part of what we're doing. We're gonna be having robots scan crops, and they're gonna showcase where there's zinc deficiencies, and then these drones are gonna go apply where that zinc deficiency is on an acre instead of on a myriad of acres. I think that's gonna be a game changer. I would say going into 2027, we've never had so many technology partners that a farm can get with to make sure that they're efficient. The key is that those technology partners have to be economical, and they've got to look at the bottom line of the farmer before they look at the bottom line of their company. If they look at the bottom line of the farmer, they'll be successful, no doubt about it.”

Nano-Yield uses nanoparticles to improve the efficiency of fertilizer and crop protection products.
