AHA Moment in Ag Pt 1
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. Are farmers ready for the future? Are they going to be able to keep up technologically with changes in the way things are done.Global futurist and best-selling author, Jack Uldrich spoke recently at the Potato Expo in Orlando where he shared his best three words moving forward …
ULDRICH … “I use the acronym AHA to describe what I do as a futurist, but I also think it’s what farmers need to do. And what it stands for is Awareness, Humility, and Action. We need to be aware of the trends that are transforming our world. We need humility to the idea of the way we farm today might not be how we do it in the future. And then the A stands for action. We have to take action to create our desirable future.”
From an agricultural perspective, Uldrich says we all just need to focus …
ULDRICH … “The metaphor I want to use for farmers is the awareness is expanding your mind. Just be aware of these trends. Humility, think of it as tilling your mind so that new seeds, and the seeds are the actions that you’re going to need to take to help you grow into the future.”
But remember, Uldrich says there are no guarantees …
ULDRICH … “I guess what I’m saying is to stay aware of these technological advances and, by all means, be skeptical.”
Tune in tomorrow for more on why skepticism is healthy, and why one of the dangers, for those in agriculture, is being overly cynical.
