Pork Academy Provides Education for Young Pork Producers

For those young people who are raising swine, the Colorado Pork Producers Council are sponsoring two one-day events to bring education and information to young hog producers. Executive Director Joyce Kelly shares the dates
Kelly: “So we have two events that are coming up — one in Montrose on the 18th of June at the fairgrounds there in Montrose and then next one is going to be July 16th and that is going to be in Sterling.”
She continues with what the day’s agenda will cover.
Kelly: We’ve got a lot of cool topics that are mainly geared towards youth — but adults that attend will get a lot out of it as well. Probably the most important will be then new Veterinary Feed Directives changes that are coming in January. We want to offer some education on what those are going to be as well as some of the different disease we are watching and surveying now. Then talking about swine selection, youth showing, ethics — it’s just a really good opportunity for youth or 4-H and FFA students that are interested in hog production to come and learn about raising hogs and maybe find a new trick or two.”
To reserve your spot for one one of these events, go to copork.org or call the Colorado Pork Producers Council office.
