Global Food Inflation and Certified Angus Beef Sales Record
From the Western Ag Network, I’m Bob Larson with your Agribusiness Update.**USDA’s new Harvest Fuel Relief Program could push government payments to farmers to a record $55.4 billion in 2026.
That’s if, according to Progressive Farmer, the estimated $8 billion in diesel assistance is distributed before year’s end.
That would surpass the previous high of $45.6 billion in 2020 and account for nearly one-third of USDA’s projected net farm income.
Some economists question whether increasing government payments is the best long-term solution.
**Global food inflation could accelerate in the coming months and persist well into next year, as shipping disruptions, higher production costs, and drought threaten supplies.
The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization says attacks on Black Sea grain infrastructure have disrupted wheat shipments, while insecurity in the Red Sea has forced longer, more expensive shipping routes.
Meanwhile, conflict involving Iran has driven up fuel prices and disrupted fertilizer exports, adding costs for farmers.
**Certified Angus Beef sold more than 1.2 billion pounds globally during its 48th fiscal year.
CAB says the numbers showcase continued consumer demand despite tight cattle supplies, elevated beef prices, and pressure on household budgets.
Sales finished just under 1% below last year, but the brand recorded all-time highs in Certified Angus Beef Prime and value-added products.
Prime sales increased more than 12% to a record 63.3 million pounds.
