GFB's Ag In Classroom Program and Farm Bill Lacks Prop 12 Fix

**Georgia Farm Bureau’s Ag in the Classroom program has awarded $500 grants to 10 elementary school teachers to help them fund innovative agricultural projects.
These teachers were selected for their commitment to teaching students about agriculture in fun, hands-on ways.
The grants will support projects focused on composting, school gardens, and farm to table nutrition, giving students a chance to actively engage with farming, sustainability and how food systems work.

These projects not only educate but also foster curiosity and a deeper appreciation for agriculture, which contributed more than $91.4 billion to Georgia’s economy in 2023 and provided more than 381,200 jobs statewide according to the UGA College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences.

**The National Pork Producers Council welcomed progress on the farm bill, but said lawmakers must still address California’s Proposition 12 and the growing state livestock housing regulations.
NPPC President Rob Brenneman said pork producers need a five-year farm bill that protects them from having to modify production practices to comply with differing state animal welfare laws.
The group argues Prop 12 increases costs and creates uncertainty for more than 60,000 pork producers.
**President Trump's plan to buy potash from Belarus has drawn a warning from the leader of Canada's biggest potash-producing province, who says the fertilizer would have to be shipped through Russia.
On Truth Social, Trump wrote, "The pricing would be for substantially less than we are currently paying to Canada, very good news for our Farmers and Ranchers."
Canada supplies the vast majority of our potash, a key
fertilizer ingredient.
