Winegrape Sales Still Down and 2026 Cover Crop Report

**With harvest underway, California farmers are again struggling to find buyers for their winegrapes.
Sonoma County grower Domenic Carinalli told Ag Alert he’s got a nice crop and a lot for sale, but there’s just no buyers. It’s a sad story right now.
During the past three years, a global downturn in wine sales has left wineries with surplus inventory, and many have pulled back from purchasing grapes.
**The 2026 National Cover Crop Report indicates growing interest in cover crops.
The survey found cover crop users planted an average of nearly 400 acres in 2026 and expect more next year.
Nearly half of respondents reported more than 10 years of experience using cover crops.
More than 73% of farmers who have never used cover crops said they’d consider trying them, and incentive programs can encourage adoption.
**The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association is applauding the release of the first eligible New World Screwworm Infested Zones in Texas.
The Texas Animal Health Commission released two zones, a move the cattle group says restores continuity of business for ranchers and landowners.
Association President Stephen Diebel credited cooperation among federal and state animal health officials, along with producers on the ground, for the progress.
