From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. We hear more about DNA, but RNA research in agriculture has gained significant momentum in recent years when it comes to pest control and gene regulation.

GreenLight Biosciences’ Jonathan Adamson says they’ve shown that RNA can be a viable solution to control the pests that potato growers deal with regularly …

ADAMSON … “Our Calantha product is targeted specifically for Colorado potato beetle, so that RNA messaging is dialed in the for the Colorado potato beetle and no other pests. So, for example, it won’t harm your bees or beneficials out in the field, but it’s going to target that and going to essentially die if it’s applied correctly and at the right timing.”

And, Adamson says if mites are a concern …

ADAMSON … “We have some great products outside of what we call the plant health sector. We have a Varroa mite product that is gaining traction. It just got approval here in November. So, that product has been getting constant pressure for when can we get it, how much can we get, because that is a problem in the bee world.”

So, Adamson says to learn more …

ADAMSON … “They can go on to our website at www.greenlightbiosciences.com and check out the website.

There’s information there that will point them back to us as well, and we’ll get back in touch with them and help them with any questions that they have.”

Again, that’s www.greenlightbiosciences.com for more information on GreenLight Biosciences. Or you can call Jonathan Adamson directly at 208-406-4889.
