Ag Resource Management Survey

Ag Resource Management Survey

You may be one of Colorado’s ag producers that have been asked to fill out a survey to help determine the nation’s farmers’ income and expenses. National Ag Statistic Service Mountain Region Director Bill Meyer says it is very important to complete the survey if you received one.
Meyer: “Every year we do a farm income and expense survey— it is called the Ag Resource Management Survey. Nationwide we are going to 40,000 producers. In Colorado we are going out to 400 that we are going to. It was mailed out in December and I think that they did another mailing out again last week. We will also be visiting the farms now through the next couple of months to gather this data. What it is literally is a farm expense and income report — it is pretty detailed report but it is very important. It is probably the most looked at reports we have by policy makers. In the last couple of years, with the commodity prices much lower than they have been in the past, it is a good way for the farm community to show what is going on. The data will be collected through March — we have field enumerators going out to do it. I know when you get it in the mail it does look a little overwhelming. It is long, but it is important. People need to know that the last couple of years —especially for the crop prices — haven’t been easier. The results of that survey will show that.”
