FIRA USA in Yakima

From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. Ag technology companies from around the world will be in Yakima in October for FIRA USA, a conference and trade show where growers can connect with tech companies.

Shannon Dininny, Managing Editor at Good Fruit Grower, says this conference should be on your list …

DININNY … “It’s by a French organization that is really trying to marry growers to the technologies they need in the orchards and in the fields.”

The last four conferences, Dininny says were held in California …

DININNY … “There’s been a big push to bring it to Yakima this year and, in fact, the Washington State Tree Fruit Research Commission, which really funds a lot of technology research, they were the driving force behind bringing it up here.”

And Dininny says they’ll do what they can to make sure folks are aware …

DININNY … “So, we’re actually hoping to promote that conference too. We’ll be doing some work to promote that to schools, not just to universities, but FFA and some of these other groups that get kids here to see what’s really cool and happening in agriculture.”

Dininny says it should a real eye-opener …

DININNY … “There’s a lot of really fascinating technologies that we don’t even know about, we do because we’re writing about it, but a lot of people don’t realize what’s going in and the technologies that are happening on farms today. It’s a really great conference and I would encourage anybody to travel over and attend. I think it’s going to be really good.”
