NWFM at FIRA USA
From the Western Ag Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. Technology is a big part of everything today and will play an even bigger role in our lives as we move forward, including in agriculture.I caught up with Keith Veselka, CEO and and Co-founder of NWFM, Northwest Farm Management, at the recent FIRA USA AgTech conference where we agreed, things are changing fast …
VESELKA … “Oh, absolutely. I think the future is here. Things are ramping up. If you’ve been paying attention and following, you’ve been dreaming about autonomy, it’s happening and I think the next, you know, three years or so, things are going to get pretty serious in ag.”
And a lot of it, Veselka says is ready NOW …
VESELKA … “Yes, if you want to mow tomorrow autonomously, you can do it. If you want to spray, you can spray autonomously tomorrow, absolutely. That’s happening.
You can adopt it.”
Especially during tough times like these …
VESELKA … “You know, the margins are tight, right. Ag’s not doing great. We’ve got to figure out a way to augment labor, cut costs, and I think through technology, we’re going to be able to do that now and into the future.”
Attendance at FIRA USA, Veselka says demonstrated that interest …
VESELKA … “I think people are excited. I think they want to be here. You know, we’re still in harvest. I think guys are still picking fruit, and the potato guys are still in the field, but they’re coming in and I think if we can work with FIRA and get this show back, the timing will be better. But turnouts good and a lot of people are excited to be here.”
