U.S. Pork Exports Climbing and Tariffs on Canadian Dairy Imports

**Strong global demand continues to boost U.S. pork exports, with both value and volume running ahead of last year.
Through May, pork exports totaled $3.59 billion, up 5%, while export volume also climbed 5%.
Mexico remained the top customer, purchasing $1.09 billion worth of U.S. pork.
May exports alone increased 8% in value and 10% in volume compared to a year ago.
**U.S. dairy groups applaud the White House decision to impose 50% tariffs on dairy imports from Canada, addressing long-standing trade concerns under the USMCA.
The administration says it’s invoking the tariffs in response to Canada's discriminatory dairy trade practices.
National Milk Producers Federation President Gregg Doud says, "Canada simply cannot continue to discriminate against U.S. dairy farmers by effectively blocking negotiated access to its market."
**The USDA Rural Development Mission Area intends to move nearly 3,000 members of its workforce out of Washington, DC, according to a report from Meatingplace.
But employee unions asked a federal judge to halt the USDA’s plans, warning a reduction at this scale will hamper wildfire response, slow federal dollars, and damage research.
USDA rejects the idea that the reorganization would be detrimental to research.
