From the Ag Information Network, this is today’s Fruit Grower Report. Technology is changing the way we live at a rapid pace, and that includes how we produce our food.

Jack Uldrich, global futurist and best-selling author, says just look at how much agriculture has changed in recent years …

ULDRICH … “I know that there are always farmers who move slower, but agriculture is one of the most innovative industries out there.”

And the pace of those changes, Uldrich says is not likely to be slowing down …

ULDRICH … “With the rate of change in the past, some of these advances might have been five or ten years away, but today they might only be year or six months.”

Don’t be a cynic, Uldrich says but it’s perfectly okay to be skeptical …

ULDRICH … “There are legitimate reasons to be slow, to be cautious, but at the same time if these technologies are getting better and they reach a price-point where it seems to make sense or the return on investment is there, at least keep an open mind to all of these technological advances.”

So, Uldrich says take that bull by the horns …

ULDRICH … “The best way to predict the future is to create it yourself. Stay aware of these trends, read up on them, think about them. Talk with, you know, your ag extension officers, talk with some of these technological startups. Get better answers on the ROI, and how all of these technologies and products work. And then, if your comfort level is high, then pull the trigger and embrace these technological trains and create the future.”

Global futurist and author, Jack Uldrich.
