BL: Welcome back to another “Fruit Bites” brought to you by Valent U.S.A. With us again is Valent’s Allison Walston. And this week Allison, we are talking about ReTain Plant Growth Regulator and growers have been using ReTain for over 20 years, but there are some product application nuances that can have a greater impact.

AW: Sure, here are some ReTain application tips: avoid applying ReTain to hot, stressed fruit, so apply early morning before it gets to 80 degrees and when fruit is the coolest. ReTain works best with a slow drying time, and fine mist from evaporative cooling helps reactivate ReTain for more fruit absorption. Including an organosilicone in apples helps uptake but if it goes over 85 degrees lower the adjuvant rate to avoid organosilicone phyto. Rate flexibility of ReTain can help delay the time for harvest from a few days to weeks. Finally, avoid a sunburn protectant 24 hours before or after ReTain as it will inhibit absorption.

BL: Well, thanks Allison. Join us again next time for Fruit Bites, brought to you by Valent. Until then, I’m Bob Larson.
