Hundreds of public and private celebrations are expected around Colorado as part of National Agriculture Week.

The Colorado Beef Council Executive Director Todd Inglee tells Colorado Ag Today some of these events are expecting hundreds of people to show up specifically to celebrating the state’s beef industry.

Inglee says the Beef Council will be promoting beef at all the events this weekend and next week.

“Not only is March National Nutrition Month, but the Beef Council is also actively trying to communicate to consumers about the value of beef in a nutritious diet. But there’s also a gathering of barbecue events and grilling events and retail sales and restaurant specials that are happening. Everything is boiling down to a couple of days this week as National Agriculture Week. It would be great to encourage people to go out support their local restaurants and their local retail outlets as well as food banks in the coming week.”

Separately, the Colorado Cattlemen's Association is promoting a "Meat In" day in Colorado on March 20th. The CCA encourages Coloradans to meet in a restaurant and order their favorite meat dishes.

Following the controversial declaration by Governor Polis of Meat Out Day on March 20th, the governor followed up with the official declaration of Colorado Livestock Proud Day on March 22nd.

Livestock Proud Day is a result of a request from Colorado’s Livestock Association, Dairy Farmers, Egg Producers, Pork Producers, Wool Growers, and Rocky Mountain Farmers Union.
