40th Annual CSU Bull Sale Held on March 19th

While at the recent Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show, I stopped by the Colorado State University booth and learned more about the 40th Annual Colorado State University Bull Sale will be held on March 19th at the ARDEC facility. Colorado State University student and member of CSU’s Seedstock Merchandising Team Dixie Crowe shared more details about this exciting sale.
Crowe: “We’re selling 35 bulls and we have both Angus and Hereford. They are seedstock cattle. We have EPDs for those cattle. We will have our website up soon at csubulls.com. You will be able to see the pictures, the EPDs, and we will also be videotaping them later this month. So you will have plenty of time to see them online before our bull sale but we do hope you will come to our bull sale on March 19th.”
Crowe explained that the CSU Seedstock Merchandising Team is made up of eight students who have to apply for the opportunity to participate on the team.
Crowe: “Then we are divided up into committees of two. We cover events, preparation, hands-on committee, the data committee that does our registration and keeps the EPDs up-to-date. Then the written committee that does the newsletter, the website and catalogue production. We run it like a small business and we all learn as a group because we share the responsibilities. We learn how to run it as a business. We showed at the National Western Stock Show. We had four pens of cattle. We brought both Angus and Hereford and both the bulls and heifers. We are the first team to do that in quite a long time.”
