Nothing Says Autumn Like Pumpkin

For the month of October it is all about the pumpkin as the Colorado Department of Agriculture is highlighting pumpkins this month. Marketing Specialist Wendy White shares

White: "Well, nothing screams October like pumpkin, right? So we've got lots great information about Colorado pumpkins, a great pumpkin cheese cake recipe as well as a corn maze and pumpkin patch list — so everyone can go out and pick out their own favorite gourd. We have pumpkin patches and corn mazes across the state. So a lot of them will offer a variety of activities including pick your own pumpkin. The corn mazes have gotten extremely popular over the years. It is amazing how you can easily get lost in several acres of corn. A lot of our farms and ranches that offer these type of fall festivals and harvest activates include other things for families so they may have petting zoos or other farm and ranch related activities in addition to all these fun fall things."

More than just a beautiful decoration, pumpkins are nutritious. They are fat free, sodium free, a good source of Vitamin C and an excellent source of Vitamin A. Look for Colorado pumpkins at your local grocery store, farmers' market or at restaurants across the state.
