I’m Lacy Gray with Washington Ag Today.

The Washington Farm Labor Association has been offering one hour webinar training sessions every Tuesday from 11:00 am to noon since mid-June. WAFLA’s Dan Fazio says the sessions have been well received and that they expect the same for the July 15, 22, and 29th webinars, which will focus on hot human resource issues.

FAZIO: That series kicks off with a presentation we call “Up In Smoke” about the new marijuana laws, and it’s kind of a fun presentation for people. And the next week July 22 attorneys from the EEOC are going to cover pregnancy disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Believe it or not, pregnancy should be handled as a disability if you’re an employer, and it’s a tough one for agricultural employers when people are pregnant and want to pick apples or cherries or peaches or pears.

The final webinar in the Hot Topic Human Resources sessions will be on Tuesday, July 29.

FAZIO: We’ll wrap up that session talking about those annoying forms that employers get all the time - they’re called Verification of Employment forms, and it seems they come every day for employers by phone, fax, e-mail or in person for employees who want to buy a car or get furniture. They come from governing agencies, car dealers, mortgage lenders and anyone else.

To register for the webinars visit www.wafla.org

FAZIO: Once you register we send you a link and you just click on it a couple of minutes before 11:00 am on Tuesdays.
