Showcasing Dehydrated U.S. Potatoes For Food Programming

Showcasing U.S. dehydrated potato products that are perfect for food programming was the goal of a recent United States Potato Board sponsored International Food Assistance Initiative Workshop.

USPB International Marketing Manager TK Kuwahara shares more

Kuwahara: “The goal of this event is to convince private voluntary organizations to program dehydrated potatoes. And to it is also show case to USDA and USAID why they should be purchasing these products. At the event we highlighted the benefits of the standard potato flakes and the standard potato granules. We wanted to show the ease of use. All you need is potable water or whatever potable liquid that may be available in the field — like fruit juices or even goat milk.”

USPB showed participants first hand the convenience and versatility with the dehydrated potato products.

Kuwahara: “And at our event we showcased this with a mash potato sundae bar. At this mashed potato sundae bar, participants could start with delicious mashed potatoes and then add their preferred sauce, protein sources, vegetables, fruit — whatever they liked. We showed that could be replicated in the field. And then we also showcased menu items made in the field.”
