The Spokane Ag Expo and Pacific Northwest Farm Forum is going on this week at the Spokane Convention Center. For the last thirty-seven years the Spokane Ag Expo has been providing anyone in the business of agriculture an opportunity to see the latest in farming innovations, and this year is no different with more than 250 agriculture suppliers and service companies all coming together under one roof.

Ag Information Networks Greg Martin is on hand to tell us what this year’s attendees can expect to see.

MARTIN: Of course the main focus is agriculture and there’s a great mix of vendors and exhibits showcasing all the latest in those farming innovations that you mentioned Lacy. There’s always new information too with seminars spread throughout three days covering such topics as government regulations, family farm transitioning, animal disease traceability, and of course recertification courses that farmers and ranchers can take advantage of and sign off on their annual needs.

Martin says that while the main focus is on ag products and information for farmers and ranchers there is something for the whole family.

MARTIN: There are also a number of urban visitors who are becoming more and more aware of the importance of farming and agriculture to our regional economy and they’ve brought the whole family as well - giving them an opportunity to see first hand what agriculture really is all about.

The Ag Expo continues through tomorrow and also features speakers Art Douglas, Kevin Van Trump, Lyle Hansen, and Luke Erickson. For more information visit www.agshow.org.

That’s Washington Ag Today.
