RMA Education Partnerships Program

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation operating through the USDA Risk Management Agency has announced its intent to award approximately $3 million to fund the 2013 Risk Management Education Partnerships Program. To talk about the program here’s Jo Lynne Seufer, Risk Management Specialist with the Spokane Regional Office.

SEUFER: Thank you Lacy. We’re hoping that commodity groups, minority groups, community based organizations, and other non-profits serving our American farmers will apply for funding that can go towards education and outreach projects that will help farmers better manage risk on the farm. And that can include everything from financial management, production and yield risk, or legal risk, liabilities, and also marketing - because we all know how volatile the markets are.

Applications must be submitted to rma.agrisk.umn.edu. Seufer says hard copy applications are no longer accepted and applications will not be accepted through Grants.gov. All applicants must be registered in the System for Acquisition Management, which has replaced the Central Contractor Registry. RMA will be providing training on Request For Applications changes from last year as well as how to apply on the new system on June 14 and June 27.  To register for this free training call 202-720-0779. The application process will close July 22nd.
