Farm Broadcasters Meet Up, & WCA Convention

Ag Information Network’s Greg Martin has been in Kansas City this week attending the National Association of Farm Broadcasting annual convention where nearly 100 company and organization participants have the opportunity to meet with some of the top farm broadcasters from around the country and discuss the number one issues and topics they deem most important to them. Also on hand are numerous members and leaders of the ag industry who speak to attendees about current challenges for U.S. Agriculture, such as Montana farmer Carl Mattson who spoke with farm broadcasters on Wednesday.

MATTSON: We also are looking at the challenges regarding strengthening farms and communities to improve the livelihoods out there across the United States. We want to certainly address the nutrition issue and the health issues that will be challenging agriculture in the coming years. But fundamental to the whole thing is to enhance the agricultural environmental performance as we do all of these things.

The Washington Cattlemen’s & Cattlewomen’s Associations annual convention is also going on right now at the Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum. Ag Information Network’s KayDee Gilkey is in attendance and reports that there’s a great line up of programs and speakers, such as WSDA State Veterinarian Dr. Leonard Eldridge, with an update on ADT, and Beef Specialist Twig Marston with a marketing panel discussion on Cattle Marketing 101, How well do you know the grid?, as well as panel discussions on animal health and welfare.
