Keep On Learning

Keep On Learning. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

There are a lot of old axioms when it comes to learning. Two have stuck with me. If you stop learning you will cease to exist and you should learn something from everyone you meet. If you are a part of or interested in the winegrape industry, here is a chance to keep on learning. Patty Skinkis, a Viticulture Extension Specialist & Assistant Professor for the Oregon Wine Research Institute a part of Oregon State University will be teaching the class, “Principals of Vineyard Management.” Lacy Gray has more.

GRAY: This is a non-credit course that covers the main components of vineyard management from design and establishment to pest and disease management. Online participants will learn jointly with upper division students in the Viticulture and Enology Program at Oregon State University. This course provides professional development for industry members seeking continuing education or for those new to winegrape production. The lectures will be offered online live from 8:00-9:50 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 10 through March 15, 2012.

Thanks Lacy. Skinkis urges people who have never tried an online class to sign up. Early registration ends November 30. Registration closes December 20, 2011. The class will run from January through March. Full details on the course are available online: http://owri.org/content/featured-events
