Party Wine Recommendations

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. We are fully into the holiday season and if you are thinking about having a holiday open house I am imagining that you are looking for reasonably priced wines to serve, and I have a few to recommend.

Tomorrow we will discuss how much wines to purchase for a crowd, but today we are going to talk about some wine I think are very good values for holidays parties. First of all I am not recommending any wines I wouldn’t or haven’t already served at my house. Let’s start with great values in California wines. Hands down Bogle Petite Sirah has never failed me for a wine around ten dollars sometimes less it is a crowd pleaser. Two other very reliable wines I have actually found recently for under ten dollars are BV and Beringer Pinot Noir. Both wines are from reputable California producers and they are good for a crowd. Whites from California in the lower price range do not thrill me I would look to New Zealand and Australia for big whites. Now in my home state of Washington I enjoy the straight forward Hedges Family CMS white and red. They are also available for around ten dollars and they are well made mainstream pleasers. If you are willing to step up a little I recommend you try Fidelitas Optu red and white for a party with perhaps fewer guests with discerning palates. If you are into bubbly there are many on sale at this time of year and you may even want to stock up. I recommend Zardetto Prosecco from Italy and anything with a good reputation for under twenty dollars is likely a good buy. And thank you for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
