Summer Whites

Summer Whites

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. On the program today we are looking at white wines for the summer.

Well I personally think summer has taken its time getting here and for me the Memorial Day weekend is the kick-off to summer. So here we go straight into my favorite summer wines. Refreshing is the word I want to come to mind when I am enjoying a white wine in the summer. I also want a wine that will hold up to the foods we serve from the grill which in the summer is just about everything we cook from veggies to fish meat and poultry. For several years now we have been enjoying Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. They are high on my list of summer favorites. And just a little note, at Kestrel Vineyards the winemaker has produced a Sauvignon Blanc with a remarkable resemblance to those wines from down under. The production is limited so act now.  Viognier has been a new fav for many folks during the past four or five years and I personally enjoy those blended with Chardonnay paired with foods cooked on the grill.

Summer is a great time to enjoy chilled shellfish and I highly recommend you look for a well balanced Dry Riesling to accompany it. I would love to hear about your favorite summer wines email me at Linda at vine to wine dot net. Tomorrow we can talk about Rose’ wines for summer and thanks for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
