Good success with Chateau. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. When Joe Short with Valent USA Corporation talks about their products, there is a passion in his voice. At the recent National Farm Broadcasting Convention in Kansas City, Missouri, Short talked about their Chateau Herbicide. SHORT: Well we've had a lot of success over the last year with Chateau herbicide which is a broadleaf residual. We want to be able to manage some of our tougher weeds out there which is a growing issue throughout the U.S. not just in areas like the Midwest with Roundup ready crops. But even in the Western markets where we've used a lot of glyphosate in the past&really helped put some nice residual control in a lot of our tougher broadleafs out there so we're really excited about the performance that provides to everybody. Short says it's a good all round herbicide and talks about some specific applications. SHORT: Using it on a lot of non-bearing crops, permanent crops, putting it down before the fruits and nuts are out. Put that residual kind of barrier out. You know one, get the control early and try to limit the amount of times you come back and then you know some other crops, specially crops prior to planting, it certainly works with potatoes in certain areas; get some control of nightshade and things like that. That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
