New products for grass control. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. The Valent USA Corporation was recently at the National Farm Broadcasting Associations Annual Convention to talk about some new products that tree fruit growers in the Pacific Northwest may be interested in. Joe Short is Valent's brand manager. SHORT: One of the key new products we've launched up in the Pacific Northwest is SelectMax. SelectMax, a lot of growers, retailers up that way are very familiar with Select 2EC. It's been a standard, probably, the standard grass control on crops over the last 10-15 years. SelectMax is kind of the new generation of 2EC. We've worked with the formulation and made it more active. According to Short there are a couple of good reasons to look at Select Max. SHORT: SelectMax is probably the fastest grass, post grass herbicide out there and it offers a lot of flexibility for the growers. It's going to allow you to use a non-ionic surfactant or some other surfactants other than Cropwell Concentrate which is really important for growers especially getting into the more specialty crops, vegetable crops, things like that where they don't want to use the Cropwell Concentrate where it's going to cause a little bit of crop damage to some of those more high value crops and this is really kind of an answer to that issue that people have had.
