10/13/06 Early Christmas present

Early Christmas Present Today is pet peeve day again and of course, I've got one. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be right back to tell you about it. My pet peeve today is rushing the season. I mean Labor Day is barely over and we're talking Christmas. What happened to Halloween and Thanksgiving. I want my Halloween candy and I want to think about being so full on Thanksgiving I have to be helped to a soft chair to watch football. Now, here's the worst part  after all that pet peeve stuff I'm going to tell you about a great Christmas gift idea I saw. It's a book called Best Remudas by Jim Jennings. The American Quarter Horse Association and Bayer Animal Health have presented a Best Remuda Award since 1992 to 15 working ranches for their efforts in raising and using Quarter Horses. The Best Remudas book has more than 150 photographs and stories depicting the land, the horses and the people on these 15 ranches. I saw a sneak preview of the pictures in America's Horse magazine and if you like ranch horse and cowboy life pictures, you need this book. The really good thing is all proceeds from the book go to the American Quarter Horse foundation to help fund scholarships, equine research, therapeutic riding, and the AQHA Hall of Fame and Museum.
