Predators Taking Livestock and Ag Trade Deficit Widens

**A surge of livestock kills, attacks and other conflicts caused by California’s growing predator population has prompted the state’s largest agricultural organization to form a ‘predator working group.
The California Farm Bureau will work in conjunction with law enforcement and other advocacy groups to examine the state’s predator issue, with a focus on wolves.
Since March, there have been more than 60 confirmed and probable cases of cattle killed by wolves.
##A new report by the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture reveals the immense challenges Georgia farmers faced in the first 72 hours following Hurricane Helene.

**Bloomberg's Gerson Freitas Jr reports "the US agricultural trade deficit widened further in July, highlighting the challenge facing President Trump as he vows to reverse the trend."
Freitas tells www.agrimarketing.com ag exports lagged imports by $4.97 billion in July, 9% greater than a year earlier and the largest on record for July.
Freitas says that pushed the sector's deficit to an unprecedented $33.6 billion for the first seven months of the year.

The second report calls for better nutrition, more physical activity and the need to address environmental health factors to improve children’s health.
