DOGE and Ag Pt 2
From the Ag Information Network, this is today’s Fruit Grower Report. The President’s DOGE program is impacting a lot of government agencies and a lot of employees in an effort to eliminate wasted funds.U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse says we’ve just got to keep looking …
NEWHOUSE … “It’s not always easy to find those inefficiencies. We’re working through that right now, through our budget reconciliation process, to make every single agency as efficient as possible.”
But Newhouse says we need to be patient …
NEWHOUSE … “It’s going to take some time, and I want to be as strategic as possible so that we keep those important functions available to people, while at the same time eliminating those things that we don’t need. And that doesn't happen overnight, it’s like I said, a work in progress.”
And when it comes to cuts, Newhouse says the system isn’t perfect …
NEWHOUSE … “Sometimes they were made prematurely, and we’ve had to work to bring people back into the fold. And we’ve been fairly successful at that and we’re just keeping an eye on it from our vantage point to make sure that as little negative impact as possible is taking place.”
But as a farmer, are you concerned …
NEWHOUSE … “As a producer, as a farmer, yes, I am very concerned that we, in our effort to be efficient, I want to make we don’t cut off our nose to spite our face.”
Sunnyside Republican, Dan Newhouse.
