Annual Meeting-WSTFA Pt 1
From the Ag Information Network, this is today’s Fruit Grower Report. The 120th Annual Meeting and Hort Show for Washington State Tree Fruit Association members is coming up December 9-11 in Yakima.WSTFA President Jon DeVaney says hard to believe, but it’s
that time of year, once again …
DeVANEY … “Yeah, this is a busy time of year with all of our folks, of course, trying to wrap up harvest here in the next few weeks of apples and very quickly will be moving into the Annual Meeting.”
And, DeVaney says there will be plenty to talk about this year …
DeVANEY … “Our planning committee really wanted to acknowledge the fact that the last season was particularly difficult on pricing, and we’ve had a few challenging years with weather. So, there’s been an abundance of things to commiserate about, but it doesn’t just need to be a session of wallowing in our misery.”
DeVaney says planning chair, Jeff Baldwin’s theme for this year’s meeting is “Navigating Adversity” …
DeVANEY … “Jeff in particular really wants to focus on things that we as members of the industry can do to try and improve the situation, where you can still find opportunities and technologies and practices that our researchers have come up with that are ready to be implemented, either now or very soon, that might provide some relief to some of the pressure points that have been causing growers so much trouble.”
Tune in tomorrow for more on the WSTFA Annual Meeting and Hort Show … December 9-11 in Yakima.
