Embracing Ag Technology Pt 2
With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. Keeping up with technology is a never-ending challenge for everyone today. The increased power and capability of our electronics is mind-boggling, and doesn’t appear to be slowing down.Colby AgTech founder, Chad Colby says in the world of agriculture, it’s no longer a luxury …
COLBY … “And, I think that’s the message that needs to be sent is, producers today need to be applying more technology because the benefits are there, which is a good thing.”
Colby uses i-Pads and says the advancements have been incredible …
COLBY … “There’s a huge jump from your i-Pads. If you’ve got anything with a ‘Pro’ on it they’re three and four times better than anything else out there. That’s nothing new. This is scary, and mine didn’t make it. I think it shipped. I think I got a tracking number. It’s not here yet. But, the new i-Pad Pro that was just announced, that ships today, is faster than the Mac Books from a year ago. Do you guys understand what that is? That’s craziness! We should just have an open bar here. It’s nuts. And, I kind of mean it. It’s hard to keep up with that.”
Speaking to a group of Ag broadcasters, Colby said keeping up isn’t easy …
COLBY … “And, we’re on the forefront. This group I’m speaking with, you guys are on the forefront. I’m not telling you anything you don’t know. Put yourself in a farmer’s shoe who says this, you know what they tell me, well I bought an i-Pad about four years ago. Well, how would you even compare that? That’s like comparing to 1979 Chevy.”
Tune in tomorrow for more on why technology is worth the investment for farmers trying to compete in today’s world.
