Opportunity for Future Journalists

Opportunity for Future Journalists

There is an exciting opportunity for National Junior Angus Association members who interested in possible future careers in journalism, marketing or photography during this summer’s National Junior Angus Show. American Angus Association Assistant Director of Events and Education Chelsey Smith shares more details
Smith: “Basically Media Crew gives National Junior Angus Association members to be more involved at the National Junior Show. It is a great opportunity for youth who are considering the communications field as a potential career path. It gives them an opportunity to explore their interests. They also have the opportunity to shadow our and learn techniques from our Angus media staff for the week.”
Smith continues with the why behind why the American Angus Association and the NJAA provides such opportunities.
Smith: “The National Junior Angus Association is all about building future leaders for the American Angus Association. Any opportunity we have to provide our junior members to grow and learn a new skill. A lot of times when students are in high school or college it is hard to get pieces of work to utilize in a portfolio. Media Crew is a great opportunity for them to have stories or photos published. That way they can have a byline and maybe a tagline. It can build their portfolio at a young age while helping them develop whether this is a potential career path for them down the road.”
