Legends of Ranching Performance Horse Sale

Legends of Ranching Performance Horse Sale

The 11th Annual Legends of Ranching Performance Horse Sale will happen on April 23rd at the Colorado State University's Equine Center. CSU Director of the Legends of Ranching Program Dr. Dave Denniston say that this year there is an exciting new event that will happen on April 22nd prior to the sale. He shares more

Denniston: "Its called the Legends of Ranching Futurity and Maturity Horse Show. It is a horse show that will feature horses who have been sold through the Legends of Ranching Performance Horse Sale in the past 10 years. So it is unique to the Legends of Ranching sale horses and we are really excited about that new aspect of the program. Of course our sale is the highlight and that tis going to occur on April 23rd at the CSU Equine Center. As of this morning, we have 62 horses catalogued to be sold on the 23d. Really well bred ranch and performance horses from all over the United States from 21 different consignors. So we are really excited about this year's sale."

The Legend of Ranching Program provides excellent hands-on experiences to CSU equine students as Dr. Denniston explains

Denniston: "This is a student driven program and we are really proud of that. Several classes through the CSU Equine Sciences program participate in the Legends of Ranching program. So the students are actually being trained in the sales management class, for instance, how to actually run an event — all the details of an event. The students are actively engaged in hiring sales staff, contracts, producing events and program. We try to get students as actively involved as possible and we are really proud of that."
