Marketing U.S. Fresh Potatoes in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a mature market for U.S. fresh potatoes as United States Potato Board has been active in this market for the past 35 years. Recently, the USPB held an event at a very trendy restaurant, C-O-W Dining for members of the media that hit on the healthy role U.S. potatoes can play in the Hong Kong local cuisine. USPB Global Nutrition Marketing Manager Meredith Myers details some of the press coverage following this event
Myers: “In the Hong Kong Economic Journal, the headline was, ‘The Underground Apple: the Potato”. They explained that the potatoes are becoming more popular worldwide because of their nutritional value. It mentions the benefits of potatoes — the vitamins and minerals. And then they also talked about the fact that U.S. potatoes have become more popular in the East because they are good for weight management. So really, really nice results from an afternoon media event. We continue to reach out to the media and also to bloggers to nutritionists and to cultivate relationships and solidify the foundation so that we’re continuing to get this great nutritional information out there.”
