USPB CEO Gives Update on Potato Friendly Salad Bar
Richardson: “Remember we just introduce it to the industry without it even being discussed with the board in January of this last year. It was voted into the programs in March and is funded as of July first. So we are just getting started so I think that everyone that is interested in this — there has been a tremendous amount of positive comments and interaction about this program. Now is the time to start contacting the US Potato Board in getting the process going so that we can get these potato-friendly salad bars in schools around the country and help further our efforts in terms of reaching that market segment.”
While this initiative was just announced a mere nine months ago — a lot of work has gone into the many elements of this program. Richardson shares the count of purchased potato-friendly salad bars.
Richardson: “At this point in time we have confirmed commitments from industry members about 30 paid salad bars they will be contributing and we will be matching. Now over the several months as we move into our normal fall and winter meeting schedule, we will continue to encourage people to contribute these salad bars and hopeful meet the goal of 300 salad bars this year.”
