August is Colorado Proud Month

Tomorrow begins August and it has been designated Colorado Proud month as Colorado Department of Agriculture Marketing Specialist Wendy White explains
White: “We’re excited Governor Hickenlooper has proclaimed August as Colorado Proud month. So it is the perfect time to find local produce and local Colorado Proud products. So we are really encouraging people to get out there and experience Colorado agriculture. We have our Pop-Up picnics that are continuing through the month of August. We have eight more events at Farmers Markets and concerts. We will be handing out free re-useable grocery bags, temporary tattoos for the kids, recipes, produce picking tips and we will even have farmers at some events to provide tips for picking products and produce at the store and farmers markets.”
Colorado Proud month has been celebrating the high quality products Colorado farmers and ranchers provide the public since 1999. White shares more details about a new contest
White: “Then we are kicking off on August 1st, our Choose Colorado Produce Challenge. So people can get really engaged with our growers and post pictures of Colorado produce on to our website and people will vote. We will have two winners at the end of the month of a $500 Safeway card.”
