Jingle Bells Extravaganza

I’m Lacy Gray with Washington Ag Today.

Christmas will be early this year in Lacey, Washington when the fifth annual Jingle Bells Extravaganza kicks off June 21st at the Thurston County Fairgrounds. Running through the weekend, JBE is Christmas themed showing of llamas and alpacas. Nike Kuklenski, owner of JNK Llamas, talks about JBE, the biggest fiber show of its kind in the country.

KUKLENSKI: It is a double point halter performance and fiber show, and there’s youth classes also. And alpacas are allowed to participate in the youth and performance classes. It’s a Christmas themed show in June, so we that give away prizes and everything’s wrapped up, and we have stall decorating contests and people dress up in Christmas clothes and they dress their llamas up in Christmas clothes and alpacas.

Kuklenski explains that there will also be vendors on hand.

KUKLENSKI: Fiber related vendors and people selling product to do things with llama fiber, alpaca fiber, and there’s just all kinds of cute little gift things and we have a fiber co-op coming.

Kuklenski says that’s not the only reason this show is so popular.

KUKLENSKI: The reason why this show is popular, not only because it’s a themed fun show, but also because it’s very affordable because we have great sponsors that help cover our expenses so that we can make it really affordable for families, and they can camp, and we feed them dinner on Friday for free. So it’s a pretty good deal for a family.

Pretty good deal indeed. For those interested in entering their llama or alpaca in the JBE show the entry deadline is June 14th.

Back after this.
