 Terry Ring is the owner of Silver Creek Outfitters which has a very long history of almost exclusively specializing in teaching the intricacies of flyfishing and guiding as well as outfitting those who have an interest. This service has been around for decades as Terry Ring explains:  Silver Creek Outfitters  was actually started by a man named Dick Alfs. He was a fly-tyer in an era where you really couldn’t buy commercial flies very easily. So he tied flies and basically the capital for the store was a bare hook and some thread and some for and some feathers. In the early 60s he would tie flies all winter long and sell them in the summer out of a very small store. He operated the store through the 70s and then sold it. I have been here since 1979 as the owner of the store for 33 years. We’ve got a guide service, a full service fly shop, we’re kind of the outfitter for the Sun Valley lifestyle. One of the things that we try to do is to invite people into the sport of fly fishing while making it as non-intimidating as possible. We offer a class called Flyfishing 101, we have a number of guides who are certified casting instructors, we have invested in the training and tried to put together a program to where we have a method of how we teach.”
