"Killer" has Cancer, Farm Frustration & Icy Conditions for the New Year

“Killer” has Cancer, Farm Frustration & Icy Conditions for the New Year. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Northwest Report.

I’m a baseball fan, no doubt about it and growing up when we would spend summers in Minnesota I was a Twins fan which meant Harmon “Killer” Killebrew was tops on my list with 573 home runs. Killebrew, who is an Idaho native, has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and in a statement he said quote, “ While my condition is very serious, I have confidence in my doctors and the medical staff and I anticipate a full recovery." Our thoughts are with you “Killer.”

Weather conditions across the northwest are a bit treacherous so if you are planning on going out this evening to celebrate the New Year...please drive careful.

Kansas GOP Senator Pat Roberts, a senior GOP member of the Senate Ag Committee, says farmers and ranchers are angry and frustrated with the Obama administration’s regulation of agriculture.

ROBERTS: They may meet standards in terms of ideology or where people want to go or this-that-or the other or peoples personal opinion but they don’t make sense in farm country so if we could do regulatory for them, it would be a wonderful thing. But one of the things we can do is certainly relieve farmers from over regulation and regulatory cost that do not meet sound science standards.

Now here’s today’s Washington Grange report.
