Renewable energy grants; crop insurance deadline

Washington Ag Today November 11, 2010 The USDA announced this week it is providing loans and grants for over 500 renewable energy and energy efficiency projects to help, farmers, ranchers and owners of rural businesses reduce energy costs and develop new sources of renewable energy. Two projects in Washington state are receiving grants under the Rural Energy for America Program or REAP.

The 3 Bar G ranch in Kittitas County is getting an 85-thousand-500 dollar grant for a wind turbine to serve as a community power project.

The Washington State Department of Commerce will receive a 100-thousand dollar grant to conduct screening workshops for REAP applications, site specific consultations and targeted project development technical assistance.

A reminder from the USDA’s Risk Management Agency that November 22nd is a sales closing deadline of insurance for numerous fruit crops. That includes apples and Actual Revenue History Cherry Pilot.
