Wheat Growers Convention next week
Washington Ag Today November 9, 2010 “Pillars of Progress. Building Our Legacy. “ That is the theme of this year’s Washington Association of Wheat Growers annual convention coming up November 18th through the 20th. The event is being held at the Northern Quest Resort and Casino by Spokane. Among the speakers attendees will hear are prominent agricultural economist Dr. Jay Lehr. There is Krysta Harden from the USDA Office of Congressional Relations. Also Mike Krueger of the Money Farm and humorist Damian Mason. The CEO of the National Association of Wheat Growers will be speaking as will Vince Peterson, Vice President of overseas operations for U.S. Wheat Associates. A State of the State breakfast will host a legislative panel to discuss future state budget concerns and possible impacts on agriculture. Now the report from Stockland. This Jack McGuiness with Stockland Livestock here in Davenport. Coming off two big sales here. Over the weekend we sold about 2000 head of cows. Had a 14-hundred dollar top for bred heifers. Top for the cows was $1350. Today the cow market, maybe a buck or two lower. Most of the cows trading in the low to mid-50s. Feeder cattle fully steady and a big run of cattle today. We have about 16-hundred to sell. Anyway a strong market on all classes. Call us anytime at Stockland. 509-535-2444.
