Grape Society Annual Meeting

Grape Society Annual Meeting

Grape Society Annual Meeting. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. The Washington State Grape Society Annual Meeting & Trade Show is coming up NOV. 18-19 at the Church of the Nazarene in Grandview and Executive Director of the society, Deb Heintz says there is a lot of good information for grape growers. HEINTZ: Well we have a variety of topics that are technical in nature for the grape growers and the grape industry itself. One of the topics is called grape ripening with Doctor Marcus Keller, "How Late is Too Late?" I think that's apropos for what the growers are going through this year. The keynote speaker this year will touch on something all of us are concerned with. HEINTZ: Our keynote speaker, Dr Ellison from Boston University School of Medicine, he's going to come and talk to us about what we do know 20 years later regarding the French Paradox so that is health related, informative information about drinking wine and juice and some of the studies that have come out. The annual meeting is of course great for grape industry folks but according to Heintz is a good place for people thinking of getting into the business to get some good information. HEINTZ: They would get a great review from Trent Ball who is going to be talking about the state of the grape. What they do is give you some past history of the tonnage that has come in in prior years and what's happening in the industry itself.
