New Favorite

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. As many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the one that is in my glass at the time – I don't waste my time drinking wine I am not thoroughly enjoying. Recently our women's Tasting group invited Mike Hogue as a speaker at our monthly tasting. Yes he is the founder of the Hogue Cellars in Washington. Several years ago he sold Hogue Cellars and took a break from the wine business. But now he is back with new partners, his long time family friends and farmers the Mercer family. Their new winery is Mercer. Mike Hogue managed to pull many of the originals in the Hogue team together again at the new facility. I had the pleasure of tasting through some of the current releases and I must say the Pinot Gris just jumped out at me. It was floral and fruity in the nose which was quite seductive. It was very well balance and the fruit was ripe and unmasked, it had a slight acidity which balanced the wine into what I thought was a true pleasure. It was great with our appetizers and quite refreshing all by itself. Although the rest of the wines were good, I just kept going back to the Pinot Gris. That is why it is my new favorite wine. It is about to be summer. So keep Mercer Pinot Gris in mind and trust me buy more than one bottle, because you will be sorry if you don't. And thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
