Savor the Flavor

Savor the Flavor

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today is food and wine pairing day but let’s talk food and stress. A month ago I was asked to participate as an amateur chef at our local Savor the Flavor event. At first I was thrilled, but now I am sooo stressed out!

Although normally so relaxed and uninhibited in the kitchen – I am freaking out trying to create a recipe as an amateur chef for the upcoming Savor the Flavor event in the Tri-Cities. I am finding myself stymied by the whole idea of this 45 minute stress test. I realized last night while once more attempting to perfect my recipe that I am not relaxed about this. I don’t want to be judged by professional chefs. I’m not that brave. I love to cook and I love to search out just the right wine to go with my dish. But it’s supposed to be fun. This is all so serious. We have to select a protein as the focus of the dish like fish or chicken or beans or whatever. I like the idea of beans but what kind? I have been unsuccessful in creating a fabulous recipe from any of my beans – I mean some of them taste good but they don’t look very good – there is the rub – the presentation. I have 45 minutes to create the dish and plate it for the judges. Then I have to clean up and be off the stage in the remaining 15 minutes. Although I have no problem making dinner in half an hour this somehow sounds anxiety inducing. Oh well - come on out to Savor the Flavor at the TRAC in Pasco WA  the weekend of November thirteen and fourteen and say hello, I could use a little cheering on!

And thanks for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
