**American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall is applauding President Trump’s executive order expanding access to tax-exempt dyed diesel fuel.
Duvall said the move could provide relief for farmers during harvest, when fuel costs are a significant expense.
He noted that the federal highway diesel tax is currently more than 24 cents per gallon.
He added that even small changes in fuel costs can have a meaningful impact on farm operations.
**Trade negotiations between the U.S. and India appear to have stalled, with India’s finance minister saying the two sides may have reached a point where further concessions are difficult.
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said recently that a trade agreement was not imminent.
For U.S. agriculture, a trade agreement could affect market access and opportunities for farm exports to India, but the timing of a final deal remains uncertain.
