New Favorite Wine

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. As many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. Today we are going to talk about my new favorite house white wine.

Over the summer I volunteered to help with an outdoor production of Shakespeare in Walla Walla. The wine garden featured wines from Waterbrook winery and I was pleasantly impressed with the 2007 Waterbrook Mélange Blanc. It is a blend of just about everything white Viognier, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Muscat Canelli - Crazy huh? Crazy good. It is so refreshing; with a gorgeous fragrance and a nice dry crispness that makes it great for sipping and great for just plain drinking! At under twenty dollars it has become my new house white wine and it is fabulous to cook with. In addition Waterbrook makes a counterpoint to the Mélange Blanc you guessed Mélange Noir a blended red wine that is spicy and easy to drink a combination of Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot and a splash of Tempranillo! Go figure. But it works and is also priced at under twenty dollars a bottle. I do like the white a bit more and I have not yet cooked with the red so I am not certain about that. There you have it Walla Walla’s Waterbrook Mélange Blanc, my new favorite wine. Remember to send you wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
