New Favorite Wine

New Favorite Wine

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. As many of you know, my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. Today I want to talk about one of my new favorite Italian wines for the summer or actually anytime.

Well summer in eastern Washington wine country has been toasty and I for one love it. I am having tons of fun getting back into the swing of cooking every night on the grill and of course all of the wines of summer. We have spent the week talking about some of the Italian wines I recommend for summer. It is interesting to find better levels of quality for many Italian wines and I think that is one way to gain a great respect for Italian wines. I have traveled in the Italian region of Tuscany many times and I fell in love with Badia a Coltibuono from my very first visit. Badia a Coltibuono which translates to Abbey of the Good Harvest, is a winery located in an eleventh century Romanesque monastery. The winery is owned by the Stucchi family and predominantly produces Chianti and Super Tuscan wines using hand picked organically grown Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes. I love the Chianti Classico and have been collecting it since the 1998 vintage. It is intens rich and earthy a great wine to accompany red meat off the summer grill. If you ever get to Tuscany visit the restaurant located at the winery and enjoy the amazing wild boar with the Badia a Coltibuono wines.  Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
