Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. As many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. I mean why waste my time and the calories drinking wine I really don't like? Recently I attended the Tri-Cities wine festival and I tasted many wines which were new to me. But one winemaker really stood out and I will share that wine with you right after this message.
In the interest of full disclosure I will admit that I have been drinking wine made by Brian Carter for nearly twenty years. I was a fan of his wines under the Paul Thomas label and under the Washington Hills and Apex and WB Bridgman labels. But now he has ventured out and is making wines with a label that bears his own name. Brian Carter wines have delightful names which express everything from the heritage of the grapes which they are made from to his whimsical sense of humor. Like his wine named Abracadabra. I know I have bragged about that wine and the other of my favorites the Italian influenced Tuttorosso. It is made in the style of super Tuscans and it is truly a smooth and classic wine. But my favorite that evening and the favorite of my friends and apparently the judges liked it as well was the southern rhone style wine called Byzance. In fact the judges seemed to really think we have something going here in Washington withour Syrah and other Rhone varieties. If you have a chance to experience Brian Carter wines do yourself a favor and try them all, you will not be disappointed.
