Spring Tasting. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
You might start planning a little outing for next weekend&a trip to the Walla Walla area for some spring wine tasting. It's that time of year when a lot of wineries across the region will be featuring some great new wines.
SMALL: We've got Spring Release coming up that first weekend in May, Saturday May 3rd and 4th. A lot of the wineries have extended hours on Thursday and Friday too. It will be nice for people coming into town a couple of days early.
That's Jordan Small with the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance. This year they will also be helping out the designated driver.
SMALL: We're doing a fun new promotion this year. We're working with Verve Coffee and Art House to kind of thank our designated drivers. They'll get a button from the wineries and they'll be able to go to the coffee shop and get 50 cents off a latte or get a free 8 oz. coffee. So just really trying to encourage the responsible tasting and driving.
Of course Small reminds wine tasters that it is okay to spit so you can enjoy a lot more wine without feeling the buzz. She recommends checking out their website for a list of locations.
SMALL: At our website, wallawallawine.com we have a printable list of all the wineries, their hours, whether or not they have tasting fees, that sort of thing and so people can take a look at that and see where they want to go.
There is also a map available at the Wine Alliance office or at the wineries that shows all the winery locations.
